Viking ship Norseman visits CBMM June 21-23
From June 21-23, the Viking ship Norseman will be at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD.
The 40-foot half-scale replica of the famous Gokstad ship will offer CBMM visitors a real-life look at a Viking ship and the type of people who sailed them more than 1,000 years ago. The ship will be available for viewing dockside, with limited, free rides available for CBMM visitors, weather permitting.
The Norseman's crew will wear authentic Viking attire at a small encampment, which will be complete with iron and woodworking tools. The Viking ship has sailed the seas of many countries, and annually participates in festivals in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
This will be the second CBMM visit of the Norseman, which represents Leif Ericson Viking Ship, Inc., headquartered in Swarthmore, PA. Rides will be scheduled on site, with no advanced reservations available. For more information about other upcoming CBMM events, visit www.cbmm.org, or call 410-745-2916.

“Six Views - A Painting Boutique”
Exhibiting at the Old Brick Inn
The Old Brick Inn. 401 S. Talbot, St. Michaels, presents “Six Views - A Painting Boutique." This exhibit of over 35 paintings of various mediums and subjects is an excellent place to start your holiday shopping. The public is invited from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, phone 410- 745-3323, www.oldbrickinn.com.
Eastern Shore artists included are:
Carole Cascio translates meaningful moments in time through color, form and texture. She works with clay and on paper; each medium brings new possibilities for expression into her awareness. Share her process by visiting Lifesong Studio on Kent Island by appointment.
Geraldine Czajkowski’s mixed media paintings incorporate handmade papers, metal foils, and various gels to achieve textured, abstracted landscapes. Her emotional and colorful abstractions are a blending of expressionism and illustration. Her studio is in Grasonville.
Joan Hart captures the interplay between the eye and the heart. She is excited about the way color sparks emotion in the representation of form whether they be landscape, animal, or abstract shapes. She has been exploring this theme in painting since 1996.
Virginia Perram of Cedar Cottage Studio on the Choptank, works in watercolor. Her interests are Eastern Shore themes: food, landscapes, historic houses, and interpreting antique black and white photos into watercolor renderings.
Judy Specht enjoys painting people and animals in a quiet or reflective pose; she also finds expression in landscapes that help her to convey deep emotional concepts, while celebrating the beauty of everyday life. She works in oil and pastel in her studio in Romancoke on the Bay on Kent Island.
Georgette Toews retired from the Air Force and entered an entirely different world of art and creativity. Her landscapes are inspired by the beauty of the Eastern Shore and the history and charm of the old barns and water activities. She works in various media including watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic and favors painting in "plein air".
