What do The Girl from Ipanema, Agua de Beber, Manha de Carnival, and Wave have in common? If you replied they were all written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, you would be incorrect. But they are the topic of this month’s performance by the Fred Hughes Trio. Come join us as we bossa nova and samba into the summer.

Jazz at the movies is the topic for this month’s evening with the Fred Hughes Trio.  Jazz musicians have always taken tunes from the popular music of the day and the movies are no exception.  Some of the greats including Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Ella Fitzgerald have turned to the movies to round out their repertoire.  Join us to find out which tunes Fred, Paul and Keith add to this evening’s presentation.

Dedicated to the continuation and preservation of jazz, America’s indigenous art form, Jazz Alive was created to bring this great music to audiences and students who have little to no opportunity to hear and learn from the genre’s great practitioners.  Jazz Alive is committed to presenting concerts, school assemblies, master classes, and school residencies in underserved communities that may be off jazz touring routes, lack jazz presenters, or have little funding for jazz events.
